A supply chain is a network of facilities and distribution channels that encompasses the procurement of materials, production, assembly and delivery of product or service to the customer. The management of the supply chain and the roles of various actors involved differ from industry to industry and company to company. As a result Supply Chain Management (SCM) has become a vital issue for manufacturers, professionals and researchers. It is felt that to manage the supply chain effectively entire structure of supply chain must be understood properly. This paper attempts to provide the reader a complete picture of supply chain management through a systematic literature review. It presents a state of art on SCM by systematically arranging main activities in supply chain. In addition the step-by-step approach for understanding the breadth and depth of Supply Chain is proposed which consequently explores the domain of SCM.

Some experts predict RFID will be the next big technology to revolutionize supply chain management. The RFID mandates by the Department of Defense (DOD), Federal Drug Administration (FDA), and retail companies have required organizations to implement RFID technology. Other companies are evaluating the potential costs and benefits of such adoption. In order to establish benchmark on RFID adoption, this study surveyed readers of Paperboard Packaging magazine and members of the European Federation of Corrugated Board Manufacturers (FEFCO) to see if they are implementing RFID technology and challenges they may face. The results indicate about 52% of responding companies are not currently considering RFID technology because of the cost concerns. Companies that are implementing or considering RFID are doing it because of their customer requirements although they are concerned about the cost of RFID tags and cost of implementation. Companies that are implementing RFID are somewhat satisfied with RFID implementation.

Theorists have employed two conflicting approaches in order to understand the economic concept of innovation: the classical theory of static equilibrium where innovation is interpreted as being exogenous to the economic system, and the dynamic equilibrium theory of endogenous technological change. Despite progress in studies and inquiries on the second model, research in and teaching of economics remain dominated by the first approach. This review discusses the differences between science, technology and innovation and implications of dynamic equilibrium theory in understanding the economy and wealth creation processes.

Seven years after Chesbrough published the first book on open innovation, the field has literally exploded, and is continuing to do so at an increasing speed. Earlier overviews have analyzed the current status of the field at different points in time. The purpose with this paper is to take this research one step further and analyze gaps in the field as it has progressed up to date, and also discuss the managerial implications of that literature. All scientific literature (as found through major databases) published in English on open innovation has been analyzed qualitatively. The paper identifies current streams in the literature and identifies key issues that future research needs to solve. Compared to earlier reviews, we identify a shift in the direction that the research is taken. The paper discusses why this may be the case and speculates on the future of the field.

Although there has been a growing interest in studying RFID in various application areas, little research has been undertaken to address applications in developing countries. Among the research that has been undertaken in developing countries, organizational perspectives have received considerable attention but less has been undertaken from other perspectives such as industry and country level. In this paper, a literature study of RFID adoption from different perspectives is presented and focuses on the stages of adoption, level of analysis, and issues of developing countries. A stage-scale (2S) framework is proposed to help identify relevant success factors in RFID adoption and diffusion, as well as its relation to other factors. It is concluded that the proposed framework is useful in providing a broad view of RFID adoption and in observing the dynamic changes in RFID issues from different stages, which is useful for policy and decision makers. Based on this framework, most factors of RFID adoption in developing countries fall within the preliminary stage, while the factors that are shared with developed countries are mostly situated in intermediate stages.

Open Innovation is considered a ‘hot’ concept in research as well as in industry practice. At the same time, at least two critiques have been raised against the notion: that it is based on old theories and that the term is vague and nonprecise. Based on a bibliometrical analysis, this conceptual paper structures the emerging field of open innovation into two interrelated perspectives; the firm perspective and the ecosystem perspective. By that, it introduces an integrated framework for open innovation and shows how various concepts under the umbrella of open innovation are related to each other. A discussion is presented on how the two perspectives relate to earlier innovation management literature and how they are linked by ‘new’ interaction approaches, such as toolkits, innovation contests, crowdsourcing, and innovation intermediaries.

In times of crisis, companies need to carefully monitor current expenses and forecast potential costs, which could be caused by risky actions. Risk is inherent in all business functions and in every kind of activity. Knowing how to identify risks, attribute a value and a priority scale, design actions and mechanisms to minimize risks, and continuously monitor them, are essential to guarantee companies’ survival and create sustainable value. This is especially true for small- and medium-sized businesses that are most exposed to the harmful effects of the risks, due to limited resources and structural features. The objective of this study is to analyze available literature on the subject of risk management for small- and medium-sized enterprises from 1999 to 2009. The analysis derives interesting characteristics from the scientific studies, highlighting gaps and guidelines for future research.

The paper presents an overview of studies that have described the emergence of innovative performance measurement systems. It is dedicated to the issue of potential implementation of Balanced Scorecard as a strategic management control system in Czech small and medium-sized enterprises. The framework is based on literature review and analysis about traditional management control systems, their pros and cons, and modern methods of performance measurement, such as Balanced Scorecard. Numerous publications discuss its potential advantages and recommend its implementation. On the other hand, there exist huge limitations for small and medium-sized enterprises, such as time, organization and money. Benefits resulting from successful Balanced Scorecard implementation must overweigh the costs of designing, implementing, and using it. Therefore, the paper is supposed to motivate researchers to conduct more large scale studies in the area of innovative performance measurement systems implementation in different business sector and areas.

The recent challenges of the Brazilian naval and offshore industry have generated a unique opportunity for studies on technological innovation and economic development. This paper presents the recent developments and future prospects of this industry under the theoretical framework of ‘technological interfaces’. Technological interfaces are defined as the thread of knowledge and technology necessary for establishing a transaction between two or more agents. It is both a theoretical construct and a tool for better understanding industrial coherence and dynamics. The development project of ship and platform construction in Brazil, unveils a potential dynamic similar to large national projects, such as the U.S. space project in the 50s. By establishing scientific parameters of analysis for the study, it is possible to generate a broader diagnosis of the technological interface matrix of the industry, but mainly it is possible to map the framework of operational gaps and the needs for technical-scientific development.

Two conceptual frameworks have been analytically dominant in researching innovation dynamics in sustainability transition processes, namely technological innovation systems (TIS) and the multi-level perspective (MLP). The innovation systems has been principally concerned with emerging new technologies and their potential contribution to future sustainability, whereas MLP has been more strongly oriented toward reconstructing historical processes of sectorial change. In this perspective, this study aims to analyses how global climate change and environmental pressures impact on the governance of supply chain and the ripple effects on natural resource-intensive economies. Some initiatives are taken to address regulatory issues and reconcile decision-making tools on quality assurance program on value chains. This includes a multi-level perspective (MLP) as Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and technological innovation systems (TIS) as Geographic Information System (GIS) used as a tracking system for monitoring sustainable practices. The paper discuss the drivers of sustainable beef production system, mainly in Legal Amazon, Brazil, and requirements from a largest retailer aligned to Brazilian public policies. This study presents three distinct strategies: (1) government and public policies to control deforestation related to beef cattle production system, (2) economic approach related to transnational supermarket chain and sustainability initiatives, (3) collective action for decision-making by multiple drivers

The main task for most development-intensive organizations is to create, develop and commercialize new products and services. Because development processes are risky and failure rates are high, especially in the case of technology pushed projects, unambiguous success factors are valuable knowledge for the management of development-intensive firms. New product development and innovation literature has presented many success factors for developed products, but, unfortunately, many of them are nebulous in nature. The aim of this paper is to clarify what elements comprise the exact factors. After an extensive review and screening of the technology push success factor related literature, a total of 13 success factors were rationalized and transcribed according the previous literature. As a result, three separate keynotes were recognized, and the survey instrument framework was proposed. The practical relevance of this study is to help firm management to recognize the real actions needed to reduce product development risks and also to help scholars to focus on key issues when studying the key factors of breakthrough development cases.

Se exploran también las razones y condiciones que determinan que este fenómeno sea cada vez más importante para nuestra sociedad en Chile.

The significance and popularity of the cluster and industrial district concepts claim for a deeper reflection. The analysis of one of the European Commission’s (EC) policy documents shows inconsistencies that do not impede the formulation of normative statements. That way we answer the question of why and how cluster ideas have substituted industrial district principles and the consequences derived from that phenomenon.

Open Innovation (OI) is recently recognized as a key factor in the competitiveness of companies. Firms that are not engaged in OI practice risk of becoming uncompetitive. However, innovating firms are likely to face several challenges often illustrated by barriers. Many researchers studied OI barriers without giving importance to their category. The main objective of this survey is to identify and categorize some barriers to OI practice by analysing how the literature on this topic has evolved for the last seven years (2009-2015). Our understanding of OI barriers can be insightful for future research on OI and it can assist managers, in fostering an innovative culture by supporting new ideas and avoiding an attitude that creates resistance towards these ideas.

Despite the practice of open innovation being consolidated, scientific publications are still limited, particularly when related to agribusiness. Through bibliometric technique and content analysis, this study aimed to analyze the state of the art on the subject, explaining the development of open innovation in agribusiness and highlight future research opportunities. The risk of sharing valuable knowledge is the main barrier to adoption. For mitigate it, there is a need for internal organizational changes, the support of communication tools and an intellectual property model that encourage knowledge sharing. Open innovation is a field that needs to be explored in different links in the chain, locations and contexts, in order to help ensure that organizations can benefit from this strategy.

The intersection of teamwork and leadership results in tensions, dilemmas, and paradoxes for both individuals and for institutions such as simultaneously empowering individuals at the same time it frustrates them when our naive, cultural understanding of leadership centralizes power and values leaders who can impose their will and vision on others. Perhaps the fundamental paradox of teamwork and leadership is that the more leadership is focused on an individual the less likely a team’s potential will be realized. Six specific domains where tensions arise are: at team boundaries; culture; who is in charge, rationality/cognition; diversity; and collaborations. Three approaches - clarifying different levels of analysis, temporal factors, and overarching concepts - to resolving tensions are discussed. New conceptions of leadership and the importance of the larger cultural frame within which they are embedded are needed for the management of technology and innovation.

Organizations create innovation strategies to improve their productivity and the competitive advantage. In this sense, innovation management facilitates the realization of innovation. It is known that measurement is important in the management processes; however, there is no classification of the contributions in these subjects. Therefore, in this study we identify publications that involve measurement and analysis in the management of innovation. Our study used a systematic mapping of the literature and it shows that in recent years there has been an increase in research on measurement, however, there are few studies and only for certain industrial sectors, sizes of companies and countries. Hence, there is a little worked research space which can be more developed.

Despite the popularity of the term “disruptive innovation”, its applications have taken on different meanings. Clayton Christensen is a prominent author in the field but his approach has not been applied in a consistent manner. To elucidate the use of the term in business studies, this paper employs a bibliometric approach to provide a descriptive analysis of researchers and their relevant works in the network formed by the related literature, in addition to distinguishing and grouping associated authors. The results suggest a dissimilarity of objectives between two subgroups using the term “disruptive innovation”, and the discussion about Clayton Christensen’s specific meaning of the term seems to make sense to only one of them.

Knowledge has been recognized as an asset for the competitive advantage of organizations. Finding avenues for augmenting the organization’s value represents a continuous endeavor for managers. Although business tendencies emphasize the core role of teams in the development and implementation of knowledge management strategies, there is limited research on how virtual teams may contribute to the acquisition and distribution of knowledge through sharing dynamics. Accomplishing this shift in perspective requires comprehension of the necessary components leading to these opportunities in virtual teams. This review employs a systems thinking approach and develops an input-mediator-outcome-input (IMOI) model to guide the identification of the factors that organizations must possess to promote and facilitate knowledge-sharing strategies. By building this model based on a literature review from various fields, this study provides practitioners with a multidisciplinary scheme to strengthen the organizational structure and promote innovations based on the exploration and exploitation of this essential resource.

The aim of this paper is a theoretical reflection which attempt is to define the breakthrough and disruptive innovation phenomena. For many years, scholars have studied the different forms of innovation and have provided new definitions and proposed different approaches to this topic. An issue discussed in this work is the differences between disruptive and breakthrough innovations, which can be perceived as similar but are producing different effects in the industry and market structure, and as well in the product structure and the technological approach to develop an innovation. This paper aims to develop a univocal meaning in the literature, differentiating the two phenomena, and provides a framework for the analysis of the different forms of technological change, studying its pervasive influence on our economy.

For this, a systematic literature review was carried out, using the Methodi Ordinatio methodology, resulting in a portfolio of articles with scientific relevance, which was a source for data collection and analysis. As a result, it was observed that the three themes are related, generating benefits, since, based on anthropotechnology, some barriers, such as human and lack of adaptation, can be anticipated and dealt with, allowing the transfer of technology to occur effectively. In addition, anthropotechnology generates social benefits, by facilitating technological development adapted to the population receiving the technology. Technology transfer, in turn, is a means of implementing sustainable development. Thus, aligning your goals; flow and technology with sustainable objectives, will promote beneficial results not only for the economic, but also environmental and social axis.

The study on the management capacity of ambidextrous alliances, characterized by the development of interactions with other organizations, has increased in recent years and has become crucial in terms of administration because it allows creating, acquiring and sharing information, resources and knowledge for exploitation (tradition) and exploration (innovation) processes in the leadership process. This article reports on a systematic and narrative review of the literature that seeks to identify the independent, mediating, moderating and dependent variables, as well as the quantitative and qualitative methodologies present in research on ambidextrous alliances. As a result, a greater number of studies with mediating variables were found compared to the number of studies with moderating variables in terms of alliances and / or ambidexterity; It is evident that Europe is the continent where the most research is carried out, while the United States as a country registers the largest number of articles published in this regard. It is concluded that the most widely used mixed method for proposing a model with mediating variables on ambidextrous organizations is achieved through case studies. The types of variables and methodologies used in studies on ambidextrous alliance management capacity for decision making in future research are identified.

The literature has shown the importance of incorporating civil society into the regional innovation system to favor companies' long-term growth. This research aims to carry out a systematic review on the definition and classification of society in the innovation model based on the contexts that relate to the university, business, and government. The results show that the concept of civil society has been approached in the literature from four perspectives: demand-side, media and culture, independent non-profit, and intermediary organizations. These results may help clarify the concept of civil society, having significant implications for academics and companies, and regional innovation agencies that promote the participation of civil society in their innovation systems.

The extraordinary growth of the information technology (IT) industry has had innovation as a key element, motivating research on innovation management. The objective of this study is to organize and analyse the literature on innovation management in the IT industry. Through a systematic mapping study (SMS), 7259 studies were obtained of which 76 studies were selected and classified. This SMS made it possible to structure the knowledge developed in categories: research topics, types of research, contribution, research methods and bibliometric characteristics. The studies were mostly focused on the operations, organizational context, and support for innovation. In addition, a greater number of philosophical articles were found. Among the most used research methods were surveys, interviews, case studies, and literature reviews. Also, the frequency of published articles shows an increasing trend, especially in recent years. Finally, This SMS provides information on spaces that are still pending to be investigated or amplified.

This article aims to present a bibliometric study of research involving the concept of fintechs from the past 30 years (1991-2020). For this study, the bibliographical data was extracted from Scopus. Among the main results that were found, three stand out. Firstly, this article describes a general panorama of research involving fintechs from the last 30 years in the subareas ‘Business, Management and Accounting’ and ‘Economics, Econometrics and Finance’. Secondly, we detected three generations of research related to this field of study. They are the discovery (1991-2006), the development (2007-2016), and the expansion (2017-2020). Also, we highlighted connections between the three generations, as well as the evolutionary process of the subjects that were addressed in these different generations. The third result was the identification of six themes that represent research trends for the future, which are: ‘banking & financial services’, ‘electronic services & ‘e-finance’, ‘consumer behaviour’, ‘mobile services’, ‘risk’ and ‘cryptocurrency’.

Since 2011, when it appeared as a concept, Industry 4.0 has been expanding worldwide, impacting many organizations’ productivity, performance, and supply chain management, especially in some developed economies. Prior research in Industry 4.0 has focused mainly on the conceptualization, modeling, and technological and operative improvements in the supply chain. Based on a systematic literature review and considering the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic as a major milestone in the global industry, this study proposes a new framework, divided into three phases, for the analysis of the evolution of Industry 4.0, considering the importance of including the human factor as much as technology selection and change management. To achieve long-term business success, the implementation of Industry 4.0 must consider the human aspect, such as middle management leadership, the challenges of empowering the operator 4.0, and the well-being of workers. Moreover, Industry 4.0 could foster a more sustainable, inclusive, and diverse business.

Title: Trends of value co-creation and organizational performance: a bibliometric analysis
Innovative companies are characterized by involving different actors to obtain new products and services or improve existing ones and thus affect their performance. The co-creation of value, as an antecedent of organizational performance, plays an important role within organizations, for which the objective of this study is to know the trends of the co-creation of value together with organizational performance. The lack of studies that combine them was evidenced through the bibliometric method. From 81 articles, the more relevant contents were analyzed, journals where they were published, contributing authors on the subject and the related keywords. Gaps in the literature related to intellectual capital, governance, and organizational ambidexterity were identified.

This study explores a more pragmatic innovation management system (IMS), based on the Stage Gates Model developed by Cooper and the philosophy of the five Fs. It required extensive bibliographic research, which was carried out in the scientific bases of Web of Science, Scopus, EBSCO and google scholar, and also used the snowball technique. The System is a wide platform, subdivided in four processes: opportunity identification; opportunity selection and prioritization stage; implementation and protection of opportunities; and process and metrics evaluation. Contributions from other authors and more knowledge from management were also included, to strengthen innovation management capacities. The proposed model reflects the current generation of innovation research, based on the theory of ecosystems and the Total Innovation Management (TIM) perspective, and the most recent research on innovation management systems, which are dedicated to integrated models, networking, more regularity in projects evaluation, and parallelism and high functional integration.

The use of design methods for innovation in business models has gained popularity recently. Despite interest in the business sector, there are still gaps in literature research on their potential to aid business applications and challenges. To understand how design methods enhance business model innovation, this study examines design research on business model innovation. We review researchers' work on design thinking for business model innovation, identifying five research themes: technological differentiation, innovation adoption in business, transforming ideas into innovative concepts, evaluating design's influence on new strategies, and assessing the role of designers in driving business innovation. We also investigate factors impacting design methods' effectiveness, such as organizational culture, resources, capabilities, industry dynamics, competition, and regulations. In conclusion, we emphasize considering design research's social and situational nature to apply it to the co-evolution of tech products, services, and models. This literature review provides a valuable resource for future researchers and practitioners interested in using these concepts in business innovation, regardless of expertise in design, organizational research, or business innovation management.
